Co-founder Sheila La Magra and staff from La Magra Consulting had the opportunity to attend Women Entrepreneurs Rock 5, #WER5, on October 15, 2018, at the legendary Stone Pony.  This annual free event is hosted by America’s Small Business Development Center New Jersey out of Brookdale Community College.  We were lucky enough to arrive right as Monmouth Ocean Small Business Development Center’s (MOSBDC) Regional Director, Jackeline Mejias-Fuertes, was greeting the crowd of 400+ women (and a few men).

Jackeline shared the word of the year – Empower – and how women can empower and help other women in small business.  By making someone stronger and more confident, we are helping them succeed.  The MOSBDC is all about empowerment.  They provide step by step instruction, confidential business counseling, and a variety of other services to help local small businesses and entrepreneurs achieve success.  With 39% of USA small businesses being owned by women, WER is all about facilitating real dialog about topics that are important to women business owners.

This year’s panel consisted of Alexandra M. Gonzalez of Savvy Marketers, Jennifer Smiga from Marketing Rival, Susan Hordych of Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe, Jacquie Fiorito from Apollo Jets, and Gloria Davila Booker of Eternity Funeral Services, was facilitated by Ivy Charmatz from News12 New Jersey, and featured a keynote address by Melanie Willoughby of the New Jersey Business Action Center, which also partners with MOSBDC to support small businesses.

Stay tuned for more blogs about the wonderful women at this event because each and every one of them is fabulous.
